Stone's Notary Credit Repair

Credit Cleanup Checklist: What To Do First

A Quick Guide for Homebuyers Referred by Your Realtor

Step 1

Pull Your Credit Reports

Go to www.annualcreditreport.com — the only federally authorized source for free credit reports. Pull reports from all three bureaus: Equifax, Experian, TransUnion. You are entitled to one free report from each bureau every 12 months.

Step 2

Identify Errors

Review each report carefully. Look for:

  • Accounts that aren't yours
  • Incorrect late payments (dates/amounts wrong)
  • Duplicate accounts listed more than once
  • Accounts marked as "collections" when they were paid
  • Outdated negative items (should fall off after 7 years)
  • Bankruptcies older than 10 years
  • Incorrect personal information (names, addresses, SSN)

Circle or highlight anything that looks wrong.

Step 3

Book Your Free 20-Minute Consultation

What to expect:

  • A credit specialist reviews your reports with you
  • We identify the items that can be disputed
  • We explain the restoration process and timeline
  • We recommend the right plan (Fresh Start, Credit Rebuild Plus, or Elite Credit Restoration)
  • No pressure, no obligation — and $0 upfront

Step 4

Understand the Dispute Process

  1. 1We Analyze — We review every item on your reports across all three bureaus
  2. 2We Dispute — We send personalized challenges to the bureaus for inaccurate/unverifiable items
  3. 3Bureaus Investigate — The credit bureaus have 30 days to verify the item with the creditor
  4. 4We Follow Up — If the creditor can't verify, the item is removed. If verified, we re-evaluate strategy
  5. 5Bi-Weekly Reviews — Every two weeks we check progress and adjust

Step 5

Stay On Track

  • Don't open new credit accounts during the restoration process
  • Keep making on-time payments on current accounts
  • Respond quickly when we ask for documents or information
  • You'll start seeing progress in as little as 60–90 days
